This course constitutes one of the options for the culminating experience in the MS in Spatial Data Science (SDS). Candidates in the SDS graduate program who choose to do a thesis must write and defend, at an oral examination, a thesis based upon original research in the field of spatial data science. The thesis will demonstrate depth of knowledge to their adviser and a second committee member. Candidates must submit a thesis following the procedures specified by the Graduate School and register for 6 credits of GEOG 600. The thesis must be accepted by the advisor, the second committee member, and the Graduate School. The student must pass the thesis defense. Students who choose the thesis option for their culminating experience should expect the the two thesis classes to span multiple semesters.
For more details about what is expected for the thesis, please see the student handbook. https://handbook.geospatial.psu.edu/MS_SDS_culminating_experience
