Leverage rapidly evolving geospatial technologies to streamline spatial tasks and support spatial decision making.
Program Overview
Our Geospatial Programming and Web Map Development graduate certificate program is designed to help geospatial professionals become skillful developers of software for the GIS, mapping, and spatial data science industries. Courses in this program aim to advance students’ competencies in GIS programming, web map creation, and software application development.
Customize GIS software using Python to extend functionality and automate spatial analysis tasks.
Design, develop, and implement interactive web mapping applications using open standards and open source software.
Create geo-focused applications that support spatial data exploration and enable informed spatial decision-making.
Prepared for the Future
Graduates of this program will be able to leverage a mix of open source and proprietary programming languages and technologies to automate geospatial tasks and develop interactive web mapping applications. Many students continue their studies in one of our online master’s degree programs.
Curriculum
The Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Programming and Web Map Development is a 15-credit, fully online certificate program. Credits earned in the program can be applied toward the Master of GIS and Master of Science in Spatial Data Science degree programs. The certificate consists of a combination of required courses (9 credits) and two elective courses (6 credits).
The typical student course load is one course per 10-week session. At that pace, students can complete the certificate in approximately one year. Time off can be taken between courses if necessary.
