Aid decision-making by collecting information about large geographic areas over time and integrating it with other data sources.
Program Overview
Our Graduate Certificate in Remote Sensing and Earth Observation is designed to help current and aspiring professionals become knowledgeable and skillful users of remotely sensed data and technologies in geospatial systems and analyses.
Apply imagery and terrain data to diverse scenarios faced by the geospatial professional.
Leverage commercial lidar data sources and information products in applications such as topographic mapping, vegetation analysis, and 3D modeling of urban infrastructure.
Through discussion and laboratory experiences, explore emerging trends in high-performance remote sensing for geospatial analysis.
Develop analytical workflows to derive products and extract information from remotely sensed data for a broad range of applications.
Prepared for the Future
Graduates of this program will have a strong foundation in image analysis and related technologies to apply to a variety of fields. Many students continue their studies in one of our online master’s degree programs.
Curriculum
The Graduate Certificate in Remote Sensing and Earth Observation is a 12-credit, fully online certificate program. Credits earned can be applied toward the Master of GIS and Master of Science in Spatial Data Science degree programs. The certificate consists of a combination of required courses (9 credits) and an elective course (3 credits).
The typical student course load is one course per 10-week session. At that pace, students can complete the certificate in less than one year. Time off can be taken between courses if necessary.
