I specialize in geospatial programming and web map development and am particularly interested in the application of geospatial technology to weather- and climate-related projects.

Jim Detwiler has been with the online geospatial program since 2000. He is currently lead instructor and author of GEOG 868: Spatial Database Management and GEOG 863: Web Application Development for the Geospatial Professional. He is also part of a team of faculty responsible for teaching and maintaining GEOG 485: GIS Programming and Software Development, which he teaches both online for working professionals studying at a distance and face-to-face for traditional resident students. Jim earned a BS in Earth Science from Penn State and an MS in Geography from the University of Delaware.
