Amy Burnicki is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Geography and an instructor for GEOG 580: Geovisual Analytics and GEOG 586: Geographic Information Analysis. Her research applies spatial data analysis, spatial statistics, and quantitative modeling approaches in the field of Land Change Science and in transportation and environmental engineering applications. Amy’s work integrates GIScience technologies and quantitative methods to quantify and model landscape patterns, with a particular interest in the impact of error and uncertainty on land change analyses. More recently, Amy has worked on several transportation engineering projects to improve pedestrian volume estimation and describe pedestrian crossing compliance on local roadways by incorporating measures of land development intensity. In addition, Amy collaborated with environmental engineering researchers on projects examining the vulnerability of Connecticut’s water system infrastructure to a changing climate. Amy received her Ph.D. in Natural Resources & Environment from the University of Michigan and her M.S. in Statistics from Penn State.
